How can you tell if you’ve been targeted by a scammer? Our next section covers that.

How to Spot Scammers

If you receive a renewal notice from AnyTech365, and you’ve never done business with us, that’s an easy sign that you’ve been the target of a scam.

If you are an AnyTech365 customer, and you receive a questionable message, do not click any links in the email. Open a new browser window, and log into your AnyTech365 account. From there, you will be able to go to your account and find out when it is time to renew, and how much your renewal will be. If you’ve got questions, you can call us at 917-341-2235.

6 ways to detect fake email messages

  1. Incorrect use of brand name: In the screenshot below, you can see that the scammers refer to themselves as AnyTech. We are AnyTech365, and we always refer to ourselves using our full name!
  2. Grammatical and spelling errors: In the screenshot, you’ll also see a couple of typos. Everyone makes mistakes from time to time, but these types of errors wouldn’t slip by our editorial team.
  3. FAKE phone number: Perhaps the biggest red flag is that the phone number in this email message is fake. A quick reverse lookup tells you that the phone number in this email is not for AnyTech365. Our number is widely published throughout our website: 917-341-2235.
  4. False claims: This one’s tricky. The email claims that we ship, install, setup and repair computers. We don’t sell or install computers, although we can offer technical support over the phone or through a secure internet connection if you need help setting up new devices. We don’t do hardware repairs; however, we do troubleshoot them over the phone with you.
  5. Spoofed URL: Do not click on any links from any suspicious email. A spoofed URL is a web address that poses as a legitimate one. For example, a well-known scam targeted PayPal users by linking to www.paypalsecure.com, which is NOT a PayPal official site. If you hover over a hyperlink, you’ll see the targeted web address in the bottom of your browser window.
  6. Weird email addresses: Phishing and email scams often use email domains that LOOK like the companies they’re spoofing. The email domain is the characters that come after the @ symbol, as in @anytech365.com. If you receive an email claiming to be AnyTech365, and it is from anything other than an @anytech365.com email address, it’s not us. That includes common email domains, such as @gmail.com. We do not allow our staff to send business-related email messages from their personal email accounts. If you aren’t sure about an email, forward it to stopfraud@anytech365.com and our team will look into it.
